The goal of our curriculum alignment effort was to develop/enhance curriculum that is relevant to industry, that is timely, and that contributes to high quality training. Regional competitiveness depends on the production of talent that is familiar with cutting edge manufacturing processes and technologies. We profiled targeted occupations to identify essential tasks and responsibilities, as well as the foundation skills and required competencies. This data guided development of curricula for customized/OJT training programs for advanced manufacturing sectors and for incorporation into academic programs and career pathways. Key partners were Portland, Mt. Hood, Clackamas, and Chemeketa community colleges in Oregon and Clark and Lower Columbia colleges in Washington.
